Game Research (CS 1.6)

CS 1.6 was made by two Modders which altered the code of Garry’s Mod to create this stand alone game, which then spawned Counter Strike Source and Counter Strike Global Offensive: Global Offensive. The Counter-Strike series is an objective-based, multiplayer first-person shooter. Two opposing teams, known as the Terrorists and the Counter Terrorists, compete in game modes to complete objectives, such as securing a location to plant or defuse a bomb and rescuing or guarding hostages.

At the end of each round, players are rewarded based on their individual performance with in-game currency to spend on more powerful weapons in subsequent rounds. Winning rounds results in more money than losing, and completing objectives such as killing enemy players gives cash bonuses. Uncooperative actions, such as killing teammates, results in a penalty. This meant that the Game is very much focused on communication with your team mates as if no Info is given you have no clue what to do.

Overall I enjoy the game due to the fact that many people who are good at the game still play it to this day even though the game was released in 2000. 1.6 Counter Strike was the first version to really gain an audience and a player base. Previous versions were bug testing and other things to make the game better.

Visually The game is pretty good for the time that it was released. Since 2000 when it was released there have been several updates to the game that improved both gameplay and the look and aesthetics of the game. 1.6 compared the newest game in the franchise is terrible as many things have been improved. 1.6 had very box like character models and the GUI was the hardest to navigate in 1.6.

The Buy menu would take up the whole screen and most of the time you would have no clue what buttons to press to get to where you needed.
